Better places to live! Cohousing and Wellington

Cohousing is one way to fill the crazy gap in the development ecosystem between large-scale developers and single-section infill. Here are some good things happening locally…

EVENT TONIGHT: Collective urban housing – Berlin meets Wellington

“Berlin-based architect, developer and co-housing luminary Dr Michael LaFond will give a public talk followed by a panel discussion with Wellingtonians involved in collective housing initiatives.

Join us from 5:30pm for a 6pm start and drinks and refreshments from 7-8pm. With support from the German Embassy in New Zealand, the Warren Trust, Victoria University of Wellington, Massey University and Enspiral.

The physical venue is sold out. To join us remotely tomorrow, here’s the livestream link (audio and slides, from 6 PM to 7PM): https://vstream.hosted.panopto.com/Panop…/Pages/Viewer.aspx…

We will also aim to make the recording available at some point over the next few days. For those of you joining us in person, we very much look forward to meeting you!”

  • Tim Jones says:

I used to live in a co-housing arrangement in Dunedin – in that case, it was based in 3 existing houses which housed a mixture of co-owners and flatters. So I’m very pleased to see it beginning to take off again in Aotearoa! There is a new Dunedin co-housing arrangement as well: http://highstreetcohousing.nz
